Making green achievements visible
Earning LEED Platinum certification is something to be proud of — especially for an energy-intensive science complex! To earn an additional innovation point, Carleton College partnered with Humbleweed Creative to design engaging, approachable displays that educate students, staff, and visitors about the building's unique sustainability features and benefits.
Using a "transition space" between floors and wings, we created an immersive, visually compelling experience that both informs and welcomes passersby. The final design was inspired by LEED’s scorecard, using color-coded sections and icons to showcase key facts on how the Integrated Science Complex (ISC) earned this top honor. At the heart of the ISC story is Carleton’s ambitious goal: to expand the complex without increasing energy. Not only did they achieve this—they reduced total energy consumption by 41%! A dedicated wall highlights this impressive achievement alongside the cutting-edge technologies that made it possible.
LEED Scorecard & Digital Highlights
Once the final points were awarded, we transformed the LEED scores into a bold, easy-to-read graphic mounted at the start of the display. Additional fun facts were adapted into digital slides, rotating on information screens throughout the building to keep sustainability front and center.
